Montreal – At Stade Saputo, CF Montréal delivered an intense but insufficient performance against D.C. United, falling 1–0 in a tight match marked by a lack of offensive efficiency.
From the opening whistle, Hernán Losada’s men showed determination, dominating possession and creating several opportunities. However, missed chances and a lack of precision in finishing prevented the Montreal side from capitalizing.
“It’s a good match overall, but we’re missing efficiency. We have shots, but we don’t put them on target. We’ll need to be more persistent in front of goal,” summarized a supporter at halftime.
Among the most noticeable players, Brice D. stood out with his runs and ability to energize the attack. “You can’t say he’s playing badly—on the contrary, our best chances are coming from him,” commented a spectator.
Despite continuing to dominate possession, Montréal could not break through the opposing defense. In contrast, D.C. United, carried by the experience of Christian Benteke and the influence of Wayne Rooney spotted on the sidelines, managed to exploit its only true opportunity to score the match’s lone goal.
“That’s football: sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Benteke showed all his quality and experience,” said a fan, admiring the Belgian striker.
Although the defeat left a bitter taste, several spectators pointed out positive aspects. “I liked the communication and some phases of team play. The coach did a good job,” affirmed one of them.
Another, however, noted the lack of creativity in midfield: “We play too much backward, without real offensive danger. There’s still a lack of automatisms.”
For many fans, this narrow defeat does not erase the players’ commitment or the warm atmosphere in the stadium. “The defense was solid, the crowd stayed until the end. There are foundations to build on,” insisted a spectator.
At the end of a frustrating match, CF Montréal left the field with regrets but also with clear areas for improvement: sharpening their finishing, developing more creativity, and strengthening collective automatisms.
Final score: CF Montréal 0 – 1 D.C. United.
