A wave of emotion, pride, and gratitude swept through Ivorian hearts after Côte d’Ivoire’s triumphant qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals. Between shouts of joy, chants, and tears, the supporters expressed their faith and thankfulness in one united voice: “God is Ivorian.”

Speaking spontaneously, a representative of the Ivorian community opened the celebration with an emotional message:

“I’m speaking off the cuff, and only one word comes to my lips: thank you, thank you, thank you. Since the start of the tournament, we were in Ottawa with our brothers. The ambassador wanted to be here, but he asked us to come and support our Elephants. The victory is here, and in the name of Ambassador Watar F., I say thank you. Côte d’Ivoire is proud of you. On the 11th, we’ll have the cup!”

For many supporters, this victory is not only sporting but also spiritual.

“We are blessed, we don’t know why, but it’s God who blesses us every day,” said an emotional fan before adding: “God is Ivorian.”

Sandrine Kakou, originally from Côte d’Ivoire, shared the same excitement:

“It’s such a beautiful atmosphere. Since the beginning of AFCON, we’ve been watching the matches at home, so it feels good to see other Ivorian brothers here, with many nationalities celebrating together. I loved the atmosphere. I’ll come back for the semi-final and the final!”

She also praised the players’ mentality: “Mali dominated at first, but the Elephants woke up in the end. Mali didn’t deserve to lose either, but Côte d’Ivoire won with heart.”

Other fans, like Sarah, expressed overwhelming pride:

“The atmosphere was amazing! We are the best, humility is over now. See you in the final—we’re taking the cup!”

For Alice Yapi, the difference lies in the team’s strength and humility:

“The match was great. Côte d’Ivoire is humble and strong. Thanks to K. and Fana who played very well. The cup stays with us!”

Henri, another passionate supporter, recalled the team’s courage after a difficult start:

“The match was tough at first with a red card, but even with ten men, we didn’t give up. Mali had their chances, but in the end, we beat them. Always behind the Elephants—until death!”

Finally, one fiery supporter concluded with near-religious fervor:

“It’s the ambition and commitment of the Ivorian players. Côte d’Ivoire, Côte d’Ivoire! God is Ivorian, Muhammad is Ivorian, Jesus Christ is Ivorian, God is Ivorian!”
