The atmosphere was electric at this year’s Money Money Talent Show, an annual celebration of creativity and performance held in honor of Black History Month. With cheers, laughter, and even a few suspenseful pauses, the evening culminated in a crowning moment for Amia, who walked away with the coveted first-place title and the top prize of $500.
The competition, sponsored in part by Point Clear, recognized talent across the board. Third place went to Bhavan, who earned $250 and warm applause from the crowd after traveling all the way from Gatineau to compete. The energy rose further as the first runner-up was announced—Zach Deuce—before the room erupted as Amia’s name was revealed as the 2023 champion.
“I feel so happy right now,” Amia said moments after receiving the trophy, still visibly overwhelmed by the result. “I didn’t think I was going to win, but you guys are such a great crowd. Thank you so much. Thank you to my mom, to Gabriel, my best friend, and my twin sister for coming. This means everything to me.”
Amia’s performance struck a chord with both the judges and the audience, blending confidence, passion, and a message that resonated. His powerful refrain—“I’m gonna be the greatest ever”—became the defining hook of the night, echoing long after the final applause.
The crowd’s reaction made clear that Amia’s presence on stage went beyond just technical skill. “They were feeling you,” co-host Dorothy Ann Clark remarked during the winner’s interview. “You had a message, you had love, you had confidence out the wazoo—and you had a hook nobody’s going to forget.”
The Money Money Talent Show has become a staple of Black History Month celebrations, showcasing emerging voices and giving a platform to local talent. Each year, it not only entertains but inspires, reminding audiences of the power of perseverance and the stories behind each performance.
For Amia, the night was more than a win—it was a statement. Overcoming doubts and early discouragements, his victory underscored the show’s spirit of resilience and community pride.
“I honestly didn’t think I was going to win,” he said, still beaming. “But tonight, I’m a winner.”
As the lights dimmed and the applause faded, one thing was clear: the Money Money Talent Show once again delivered an unforgettable evening—and a new champion ready to live up to the promise of being “the greatest ever.”
