FESTIBEC Afro-Black Web TV, a non-profit organization based in Longueuil through its media project, announces the launch of a web series dedicated to Afro-descendant seniors, made possible thanks to the funding of the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program 2025. This is the second consecutive year that FESTIBEC has benefited from this support, demonstrating the relevance and impact of its initiatives in favor of active and inclusive aging.

The project aims to highlight the stories, life experiences, and social, cultural, and historical contributions of Afro-descendant seniors in Greater Montreal. The series will include filmed testimonials, cultural segments, and intergenerational exchanges, with a human and respectful approach. In addition to promoting living memory, digital workshops will be offered to encourage the active participation of seniors in the modern media world by training them in the use of web communication tools.

“This project is much more than a Web series: it is an act of recognition towards our seniors and a bridge to future generations. Thanks to this renewed funding, we can continue to strengthen intergenerational ties and fight against social isolation,” says Ninette Boucher, Chair of the Board of Directors of FESTIBEC. This initiative is fully in line with the organization’s mission to promote Afro-descendant diversity through engaging and representative content.
