The 40th anniversary of the community newspaper Le Monde brought together several committed figures, including Member of the National Assembly Madwa-Nika Cadet, invited as the special guest to highlight the importance of this local institution. The event, broadcast live from 37-37 Crémazie, showcased the essential role this media outlet plays in civic life.
Madwa-Nika Cadet, MNA for Bourassa-Sauvé and official opposition critic for youth, delivered a message filled with gratitude. She first expressed a clear wish: “Happy 40th anniversary to the newspaper Le Monde.” According to her, this newspaper represents much more than a source of information: “It is one of the pillars of our community,” she stated.
The MNA emphasized that over the decades, the newspaper has opened a path allowing others to grow and move forward. She reminded the audience that many community organizations often work in the shadows, overcoming obstacles while strengthening social cohesion. This work, she insisted, helps build solid foundations for future generations.
One of the aspects she considers fundamental is intergenerational transmission. She explained that understanding what has been accomplished before makes it possible for today’s youth—especially those involved in initiatives such as Regroupement Jeunesse en Action—to fully take their place in Quebec society.
She also shared the personal motivations behind her political involvement, mentioning her deep desire to support young people and help them assert themselves: “It is one of the reasons why I am involved in politics; it motivates me deeply.”
