Montreal – Discovering the metropolis differently, not only with the eyes, but also with hearing, smell, taste, and touch: this is the experience offered by the new innovation showcase installed at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. The result of a collaboration between the MT Lab and several young creative companies, this sensory journey invites visitors to travel through the seasons and neighborhoods of the city.
“We develop experiences around the five senses. The idea is to visit Montreal through immersion, stimulating sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch,” explains Audrey Bernard, founder of Stimulation Déjà Vu.
Among the installations, the sound universe imagined by Guillaume Morin, founder of Saga Stratégie Sonore, instantly transports the audience. “We believe in the empathic and immersive power of sound. Here, the visitor experiences a bicycle ride at Parc Jean-Drapeau, crossing the Jacques Cartier Bridge to the riverbanks,” he describes.
Innovation is not limited to sound. The Parisian start-up Aglaé, which has just opened a branch in Montreal, focuses on luminescent plant scenography. “We have applied the phenomenon of phosphorescence to natural plants, stabilized over time thanks to a plant-based glycerin. At night, they light up under a black light,” explains its founder Sophie Aubert. An approach that blends poetry, technology, and respect for the environment.
The ecological dimension is also at the heart of this showcase. Anne Pattel, from the company Cubi, offers promotional material made from recycled cardboard, designed according to the principles of the circular economy. “Our objective is zero waste, by offering sustainable solutions for the design of promotional spaces,” she specifies.
Other experiences rely on interactivity, such as the one presented by Julien Leblond from the company Attractive. Thanks to a tactile canvas and a musical bicycle, visitors “awaken” the Plateau-Mont-Royal through sounds, lights, and animations evoking the cultural life of the neighborhood.
Open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the exhibition will run for one year at the Palais des congrès. “We want Montrealers, but also international congress attendees, to discover the city differently. Montreal is innovative, creative, and multicultural. This showcase highlights its entrepreneurs and talents,” emphasizes Audrey Bernard.
In a single journey, the metropolis thus reveals itself in all its diversity, transforming the Palais des congrès into a true sensory playground, between technological innovation and poetic wonder.
