The Egyptian community came together for a vibrant cultural event that showcased the richness of Egyptian heritage through food, handmade crafts, and local entrepreneurship. Organized by Service Public d’Intégration Immigration (SPDI), a non-profit dedicated to immigrant integration, the gathering featured between 20 to 25 participants presenting their products and services.

From the moment the event began, the atmosphere was marked by warmth, joy, and a strong sense of connection. Visitors filled the space, engaging with exhibitors and enjoying the opportunity to celebrate Egyptian culture.

Isabel, one of the artisans, expressed her delight at the turnout. “It’s a very warm atmosphere with a lot of people. Everybody’s happy—it’s a beautiful day,” she said. Her handmade accessories, crochet items, and specialty Egyptian socks attracted attention from attendees. “I’m very happy today. Everyone loved my project.”

For many, the event was about more than just business. Alia, the director of SPDI, emphasized the importance of fostering community ties. “I’m very happy for a successful event celebrating Egyptian character and culture,” she said, noting the enthusiasm of both participants and visitors.

Food also played a central role. One vendor, sharing traditional Egyptian cuisine for the first time at such an event, described it as a rewarding experience. “It’s the best one till now. I sold a lot of food today. I’m so happy to share it with the community.”

Sponsors and supporters echoed this sense of pride. Mr. Bashem, one of the event’s sponsors, highlighted the value of unity within the community. “It was amazing to see so many people come together. I’m glad to see all this business and energy. This type of festival helps us connect and know each other better. I’ll definitely participate again.”

Attendees agreed that the event was not only well-organized but also deeply meaningful. For some, it was their first time attending such a cultural gathering, and they described it as an unforgettable experience. “I really love it. I met a lot of Egyptians, and I liked the organization. It was a very nice day.”

Beyond the immediate celebration, the event underscored the success of Egyptians in Canada. Community members have enriched Canadian society socially, economically, and culturally, and this festival provided a platform to highlight those contributions.

As the event came to a close, organizers shared their hope for the future. “We want to thank everyone who participated and sponsored this event. Next year, or in the summer, we plan to host another one in an open area so even more people can enjoy it.”

The Egyptian cultural event was not only a marketplace but also a testament to the resilience, creativity, and unity of the community—celebrating traditions while building bridges in Canada.
