Montreal – At the Moroccan Cultural Center Dar Al-Maghrib in Montreal, the Vues d’Afrique festival team officially launched Arta Diffusion, a brand-new multidisciplinary digital platform dedicated to promoting works from Afro-descendant communities.

At the heart of this ambitious project is Love Joyce Àavie, project director on behalf of Vues d’Afrique. During his inaugural speech, he emphasized the significance of this innovation:

“We worked with the entire Vues d’Afrique team to develop this digital distribution platform that will spotlight Afro-descendant cinema, music, literature, and visual arts. The goal is to promote these works, make them accessible, and encourage their consumption on a larger scale.”

Arta Diffusion aims to be a showcase for Afro-descendant artists from Quebec, Canada, and around the world. Accessible via artacinema.ca or artadiffusion.ca, the platform already features a catalog of films and plans to expand in the coming months to include music, literature, and visual artworks.

“Today, we are launching the cinema section. The platform is already live, users can sign up and discover the available works. Soon, music, visual arts, and literature will enrich the offering,” Mr. Àavie explained.

Launched as part of the 40th anniversary of Vues d’Afrique, Arta Diffusion also responds to the growing number of Afro-descendant creators, who are often underrepresented on traditional platforms.

“After 40 years of existence, we have witnessed the emergence of many voices from Africa, Creole countries, and their diasporas. It was necessary to offer them a dedicated space that promotes visibility, discoverability, and networking,” he said.

The platform’s chosen slogan, “Sharing Art,” perfectly reflects the intention to create a collaborative space where culture is shared and connected with a wide audience.

As part of the launch, the Arta Diffusion team issued an open call to filmmakers, writers, musicians, and visual artists of Afro-descent, or those whose work explores themes related to Afro-descendant communities.

Interested individuals can submit their work via the following email: programmation@artadiffusion.ca, or by visiting the platform’s official website.

“If you are an Afro-descendant artist, wherever you are in the world, and you carry a message, a work, or a project aligned with our mission, we want to welcome you to Arta Diffusion,” concluded Love Joyce Àavie.
