Longueuil, Quebec – At the head of MP Studios and the brand-new Havre Studio, the couple Camia and Justin Mbaya embody an inspiring model of entrepreneurship where family, creativity, and vision come together every day. A meeting with two builders who are transforming their dreams into innovative spaces for the community.
It all started with a shared passion: music. “We met through singing and sound engineering,” says Camia. “We always dreamed of a place where we could create and welcome young people.”
From this encounter was born the idea of a multifunctional space: studios capable of hosting events, content creation, music production, and even podcasts. The project, which started with modest means—using furniture and equipment borrowed from their own home—quickly transformed into a recognized complex.
Located in Longueuil, on Montreal’s South Shore, MP Studios paved the way for a second project: Havre Studio. “We wanted a space that would meet not only creative needs but also the needs of parents,” explains Justin. “With two young children, we dreamed of a place where we could balance family life and entrepreneurship. Havre Studio offers that: a secure section for children and work and event spaces for parents.”
This innovative concept today attracts a diverse clientele, ranging from content creators to families looking for a suitable environment.
Working as a couple is not always easy. Yet, the Mbayas display remarkable serenity. “The secret? Complicity and self-knowledge,” confides Justin. “Each of us puts our strengths at the service of the project, without comparison or competition. When one is overloaded, the other takes over.”
This approach allows them to maintain a balance between professional and family life, while defying traditional stereotypes about each person’s role.
Their journey has not been without obstacles. Without institutional funding or government aid, they had to be resourceful. “We started with what we had. People would say: ‘What a beautiful studio!’ when in fact we had just brought our own furniture,” recalls Camia.
Today, the couple manages several establishments and is preparing to take a new step with an integrated daycare center, responding to strong demand from the community.
Many wondered: could success be achieved outside of Montreal, in a neighboring city? “That was my fear,” admits Justin. “But we discovered that Longueuil is full of hidden talent. There’s room to create, even without being at the center of the metropolis.”
Beyond entrepreneurship, music remains a strong passion. Camia continues singing, now rooted in gospel and carrying a message of hope. Justin, for his part, continues music production and collaborates with local and international artists.
Their next major project: Faith into Action, a platform to support entrepreneurs—whether solo or as a couple—in making their projects a reality.
The couple shares two key messages:
Do not wait for the perfect moment. “Start with what you have. The perfect moment doesn’t exist; you have to act now,” insists Camia.
Act despite fear. “Fear is inevitable, but you have to move forward with it. The more you dare, the more you learn to turn fear into a driving force,” adds Justin.
From music to studios, from dream to reality, Camia and Justin Mbaya illustrate that with complicity, vision, and perseverance, it is possible to build projects that combine creativity and social impact.
“No matter where you are, your project can come to life,” they conclude. “Surround yourself with the right people, believe in your vision, and start today.”
