Montreal, Quebec — On the occasion of the Salon International de la Femme Noire (International Black Women's Expo), a flagship event celebrating women’s entrepreneurship and diversity in Quebec, the Afro-Entrepreneur Fund organized an innovation competition to highlight initiatives led by Afro-descendant entrepreneurs. The initiative was praised by the Fund’s Executive Director, Jaë Élisée.
"Since we are a fund that supports Black entrepreneurs in Quebec, it seemed essential to launch this competition as part of the Expo. It’s an opportunity to showcase promising projects and provide tangible support for their development," she said.
The grand winner of this edition is OneTririp Technology, an innovative tech company led by Walid, co-founder and CEO. The company offers digital solutions for independent grocery stores, helping them compete with major chains through advanced technological tools.
"At OneTririp, our mission is to support small businesses in their digital transformation. Winning this prize is not only a recognition but also a boost for our project," Walid stated enthusiastically.
Thanks to this grant, OneTririp will be able to finalize the development of its technology, aimed at digitizing neighborhood stores. This innovation paves the way for international expansion by facilitating the digitalization of merchants worldwide.
"This support will allow us to take a decisive step. We now want to help merchants, wherever they are, to digitize and market themselves more effectively," the young CEO explained.
Beyond the recognition, Walid emphasized the importance of experimentation and agility in the entrepreneurial journey.
"I encourage everyone who wants to start a business to test their idea on a small scale, without big investments at first. It helps to quickly identify your target audience and adjust your model. Trial and error is essential before fully launching," he advised.
The event not only highlighted the excellence of talent from Afro-Quebec communities but also the central role of mentorship and funding in the success of these entrepreneurs.
The Afro-Entrepreneur Fund, true to its mission, will continue to provide mentorship, resources, and networking to all who aspire to build and grow their business. As the team reminded: "If we can’t help you directly, we’ll be there to point you to the right door."
