Montreal, QC — In a packed room, Groupe 3737, in partnership with TD Canada Trust, held a significant conference on women’s entrepreneurship as part of the Migrant Preneur program, launched in 2023. This event, which is part of a series of initiatives aimed at supporting Black communities and women entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds, highlighted the journeys and visions of influential women in the business world.
The conference, organized at the Groupe 3737 headquarters, focused on the impact of women’s entrepreneurship and featured two renowned panelists: Vicky Joseph and Monica Flores, both recognized for their leadership and dedication to the entrepreneurial sector.
“It’s always a pleasure to support ecosystems like Groupe 3737, which does an excellent job of uplifting Black communities,” said a representative from TD, the program’s main partner. “We firmly believe that equipping women entrepreneurs contributes to elevating the entire community.”
The Migrant Preneur program aims to encourage and support project leaders from immigrant backgrounds by offering them tailored support. This conference proved to be a key moment to address issues related to women’s place in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, while also offering concrete courses of action.
According to a recent report from the Knowledge Portal on Women in Entrepreneurship, progress has been made, but major challenges remain. Groupe 3737 thus positions itself as a key player in driving change, by creating spaces for dialogue, training, and mentorship for women entrepreneurs.
Among the most notable interventions was that of Monica Flores, Vice President of Government Affairs and Communications at TD Canada, who captivated the audience.
“My key message is that you have to dare. You have to take risks, follow your passion, and not be afraid to fail,” she said. “The first step is to have an idea, a vision, but above all, a deep reason that drives you. Then, you have to make your voice heard. Don’t stay in the shadows.”
Ms. Flores emphasized that entrepreneurship is not only a vehicle for individual empowerment but also a lever for collective transformation. She encouraged participants to reflect: how far am I willing to fight to succeed, and how can I positively impact my community?
Groupe 3737 is a business incubator and accelerator based in Montreal. It supports the emergence of entrepreneurial projects within racialized communities, with a particular focus on inclusion, social innovation, and sustainable development.
